Dr. LePera believes that mental wellness is for everyone. She is a formally trained psychologist who evolved into acknowledging the connection between mind and body. She views mental and physical struggles from a different perspective where balance is an integral part of wellness.  Our guest for Episode 5, Lizeth Toscano, helped launch ‘Latinx Parenting’, along with her business partner, Leslie Priscilla Arreola-Hillenbrand, and it’s currently one of my favorite accounts on Instagram!

En este capítulo de la primera temporada de Viviendo mas Allá de la Resiliencia, estoy emocionada de presentarles a una de mis mas grandes mentoras, Marina Compean, una especialista en trauma; nuestro foco en el episodio 3. 

Marina es una trabajadora social bilingüe y bicultural que vive y trabaja en Los Angeles y cuenta con 15 años de experiencia en el campo y a quien admiro profundamente.

Episode 3: Trauma and the Body

In the latest episode from Season 1 of The Beyond Resilience Life Podcast, I am thrilled to welcome one of my mentors, Marina Compean, a specialist in trauma, the focus of Episode 3.

Marina is a bi-lingual, bi-cultural licensed clinical social worker in Los Angeles with 15 years of experience in the field and someone whom I admire greatly. 

Educated at Occidental College and at UCLA, Marina has been trained in several evidence-based models for treating with trauma, including mindfulness approaches, attachment and EMDR. 

As a trainer at the Trauma Resource Institute, Marina practices the Trauma Resiliency Model and the Community Resiliency Model during her work with at-risk youth, the homeless population, children and families and LGBTQYA. 

During Episode 3, Marina and I explore the overall concept of trauma, how it impacts the body, some of Marina’s go-to skills to manage it and ways for people to make new meaning out of trauma.

Hello everyone and welcome!

My name is Dr. Lydiana Garcia and I am beyond excited to announce the launch of ‘The Beyond Resilience Life Podcast’, in-depth conversations about overcoming adversity and transforming your life.

I am a bilingual licensed psychologist and bi-cultural psychologist in Los Angeles specializing in childhood trauma, sexual abuse, parenting, and motherhood.

During the 30-minute episodes of ’The Beyond Resilience Life Podcast’, listeners will explore a number of important topics including the different types of trauma, attachment issues, dealing with the loss of significant others, racism and more.

I will also be joined by guests from the fields of medicine, mental health, holistic healing, nutrition and coaching, as well as, host interviews with individuals who have first-hand experience in overcoming trauma.

I am a native of the tropical island of Puerto Rico and am a wife and mother to a very energetic 4-year-old boy.
