In the latest episode from Season 1 of The Beyond Resilience Life Podcast, I am thrilled to welcome one of my mentors, Marina Compean, a specialist in trauma, the focus of Episode 3.
Marina is a bi-lingual, bi-cultural licensed clinical social worker in Los Angeles with 15 years of experience in the field and someone whom I admire greatly.
Educated at Occidental College and at UCLA, Marina has been trained in several evidence-based models for treating with trauma, including mindfulness approaches, attachment and EMDR.
As a trainer at the Trauma Resource Institute, Marina practices the Trauma Resiliency Model and the Community Resiliency Model during her work with at-risk youth, the homeless population, children and families and LGBTQYA.
During Episode 3, Marina and I explore the overall concept of trauma, how it impacts the body, some of Marina’s go-to skills to manage it and ways for people to make new meaning out of trauma.
