I am pleased to introduce today’s guest: Susana Marquez, LMFT.
In today’s episode, we talk about how most women plan for a safe and successful pregnancy, birth, baby, lactation, etc, but most mothers don't plan for the post-partum stage and how difficult it can be. One big influencer of this time in our lives is obviously how we were mothered. Our maternal figure plays a very important role in how we do motherhood and ultimately the expectations that are set for new mothers have become too intense and sometimes impossible to fulfill.
Besides this, there are factors like the role that social media plays in how as mothers we tend to compare to others but what we don’t realize is that the reality that is shown on these platforms is not the raw reality that we all go through.
Susana’s work purpose is that mothers during this stage reach out and learn that there are tools and professionals out there that are ready to help them navigate this stage.
Susana also shared an amazing resource; the Post-Partum Support International warm line for Los Angeles and Orange County Area: 1-800-944-4773 where mothers can be directed to all different forms of post-partum care.
She also responds to text messages, her phone#: 562-452-0199 and finally you can reach her via email: [email protected]
